Balmoral became a testing ground for new equipment. The introduction of NATO style jumpers and Gortex jackets never really replace the fondness for the old style cycle cape.
Standing on a secluded post for hours on end meant you needed sometime to keep you sane. Whittling became a favourite past-time.
Dave was our stores man. Everything we needed was organised through him. It's a shame he forgot to pack his own boots...
Mealtimes became an issue with the change of hotel provider. Ordering meals and packed lunches way in advance became a guessing game.
Some didn't take to using bikes very well...
As more roles where handed over the different working styles between the Met and Gramps became quite clear.
Changeover between first and second half officers put a great strain on sleeping space!
Some found moving a short distance away from the Castle after dark a huge challenge...
Some couldn't wait to finish their shift and get on the golf course!
If something was going to happen it was generally happened during Insp. Fillery's watch...
Visits by senior officers where generally seen as unnecessary by the troops. Here I show the DAC and his 'caddy' staff officer referring to the Palace Lodge cleaner and his boss. Unfortunately Micheal, the cleaner, never made a trip.
