Some found night duty a challenge.
Finishing duty at 9pm as the Gillies Ball began involved some cunning plans...
One afternoon, whilst van driver, I was asked not to drive down the Riverside Walk. Later I discovered others didn't want to disturb two female German ramblers taking a skinny dip in the Dee!
Training cycle, extra lights, dark, looking lost, enough said...?
It wasn't only the Met drivers who couldn't avoid the local wildlife...
Nor was it only the Met who'd muck up at the petrol station.
Local knowledge is what the Met has around the Castle grounds. It's something the Gramps tried to learn...
Slowly the Gramps were trying to take over duties at Balmoral. Ghosting posts started to become the norm.
Sometimes it appeared the Royals didn't want to leave Deeside. I don't blame them, I loved every trip I did but when it starts snowing it's time to head back to the Smoke!
